The Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Rose Tumusiime has urged organizations and institutions to establish day care centers for their female employees so as to enable them concentrate fully on their jobs. Hon. Tumusiime who made the remarks during the Wakiso Labour Day Celebrations that were held at the Lake Victoria School Play Ground in Entebbe Municipality on Friday noted that most women today aren’t productive at their work places because of their demanding Children whom they fear to live in the hands of housemaids.
Hon. Tumusiime said that with Day Care centers at work places female employees will work to the best of their abilities. She revealed that Speaker Rebecca Kadagga deemed it fit to establish a day care center at Parliament because many female Members of Parliament were absconding parliamentary sessions to breast feed and look after their babies.
Hon. Rose Tumusiime urged all workers with paying Jobs to value them because there are Ugandans who are desperately looking for Jobs. She revealed that many workers aren’t ethical and waste a lot of time in offices doing a lot of nothing including chatting on whatsapp and facebook.
In his remarks, Mayor Kayanja Vincent DePaul also urged workers to respect and value their jobs adding that Jobs nowadays are scarce. He urged the university graduates and the youth to be innovative and learn new skills that will enable them earn an income other than wasting time waiting for white collar jobs.
Meanwhile the Wakiso District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Luke Lukoda bashed his staff that remain adamant when they are given transfers. He said that many of the staff don’t want to be transferred to different stations and keep sending their “God Fathers” and “God mothers” to threaten him to back off with the transfers.
He urged Ugandans to pull up their socks because recent statistics show that Ugandans are ranked the Laziest in East Africa with low productivity and competitiveness.
This year’s Labour day Celebrations were held under the theme: “Building The Nation Through Good Work Ethics”
