Their promotion to the Azam Uganda Premier league had already been sealed months ago and on Thursday it was a just a match for formality purposes as Masavu hosted Water F.C in their final 2016/17 fufa big league game that brought together exuberant fans that thronged the now historical Katabi – Gombolola football Ground to cheer and partake in Masavu’s triumphant entry into the top tier national league.
Among the spectators were two of Entebbe Municipality’s top politicians namely, MP Rose Tumusiime and Mayor Kayanja Vincent DePaul who came to bless and render their support to the much loved and house-hold team in Entebbe.
Masavu and water F.C eventually settled for a 1-1 draw with John Ssemwanga and Isaac Kisujju scoring for their respective sides.
MP Tumusiime congratulated the Allan Kabonge coached Masavu F.C upon their promotion and in her usual generosity donated a set of jerseys to the team as a sign of appreciation for becoming Entebbe’s torch bearers in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

Entebbe Municipality has added Masavu FC to its list of achievements in the area of sports and it goes without saying through your resilience to win. The sky is the limit if you maintain team work, discipline, determination and focus on what you want. Whereas football is a Sport, it is good for health and an opportunity to create your own job. I pledge to continue supporting the sport of football as your MP and to work as a team in promoting our own club in its new journey in the Uganda Premier League, Hon. Tumusiime revealed.
Mayor Kayanja also congratulated Masavu upon it’s promotion and invited the team management for a round table discussion on how best to utilize their newly acquired Works Home ground. Mayor Kayanja handed over a ball to the team.
