The second Edition of the annual Namayirira Cup began on a high and impressive note on Sunday at the Kigungu Football pitch with 2016 defending Champions Kigungu Mapeera taking on Calvary Chapel (Our Saviour) side in the opening match of the tournament that will climax on Independence Day October 9, 2017.
Both sides failed to unlock their respective solid backpacks and played to a goalless draw despite their fantastic displays in the 90 minute match. Mapeera goalie Robert Mugisha and Calvary Goalie Brian Katamba kept clean sheets for their respective sides thanks to their hard work in manning their goal keeping departments. The two goalies saved and survived are number of shots from the striking artillery that both sides assembled.
Tournament organizer, Stanley Namayirira, the LC3 Chairman Division (B) Entebbe Municipality has set aside a trophy, a bull, gold medals and jerseys that he will award to the winner in the men’s category. The second best men’s team will walk away with a goat, trophy, Silver medals and jerseys.
In the girl’s category, Namayirira has set aside a goat, jerseys and medals that he will award to the winner in the Netball Gala that will be held two days to Independence Day. The runners up Netball team will walk away with Medals and Jerseys.

Together with the Kigungu Area Councilors, Namayirira promised to continue sensitizing and mobilizing the fisher men to participate in HIV Testing and treatment.
