Uganda Golf Club had the best and final laugh as they outwitted their fierce rivals Entebbe Golf Club in the return leg of the Interclub Golf Challenge that was held at the par 72 Kitante Golf Course on Saturday. Having beaten Uganda Golf Club in the first leg that was held at the par 71 Entebbe Golf Course a few months ago, Entebbe Golf Club failed to defend the trophy and succumbed to Uganda Golf Club’s rude thumping.After an 18-hole round of Golf, Uganda Golf Club tallied a total score of 27.5 points to emerge victors of the second leg of the Inter-club Challenge while Entebbe Club only managed to tally a paltry 14.5 points.
Some of the outstanding and finest Golfers who featured for Uganda Golf Club included Amos Nzei and Kato Sebaale pair that routed Stanley Muhwezi and Sempebwa R. Pair 6/5, Charles Hamya and Isaac Nsereko beat Nkambwe G and Herbert Mwetemba Pair 4/3, Jadu Patel and Anthony Agaba pair whipped David Ssekitoleko and Jaime Byaruhanga 7/5 while Mutegyeki C. and Jim Muhwezi pair beat Nambale D and Musiime Perry pair 4/3.
Uganda Golf Club Professionals too, did enjoy a sweet and resounding victory over their Entebbe counterparts. Deo Akope saw off Robert Oluba 2/1, Herman Mutawe beat Peter Sendaula 1-up, George Kabuye lost to Entebbe’s Opio Silver 4/3; Abbey Bagalana finished all Square with Henry Lujja likewise with Mwesigwa Brian and Vincent Byamukama who also returned the same score. The successful pros partook of two million shillings (Shs2m) that was staked by NTV.
The Entebbe Golf Club Chairman Dr. Twinemanzi Tumubweine hailed Uganda Golf Club for the resounding victory and disclosed that the tournament has proved the unbreakable bond between the two biggest clubs in Uganda. To prove Entebbe’s might, he called for a third leg interclub challenge at Serena Golf Course in Kigo, Lweza, off Entebbe Road a neutral golf course.
